Carl began his guitar playing at the very young age of 6.His family are all involved in music. At the age of 14 Carl joined local band Paint Yourself Green, they produced all their own material and the style leaned towards blues/pop.3 years later Carl visited Germany to tour for 3 months. He made his debut performance at the famous Octave jazz bar club, His electric set which fused Spanish flamenco, blues and British folk, made him an instant star at the club. This was the perfect debut for his Germany solo tour.

On his return to the U.K he continued to work with various local bands. He was also involved in the reggae scene on the production front working with respected reggae producer Santa. He then toured the UK and Scotland with local outfit '2 hard 2 handle'. This gained him vast experience in the club scene. His big break arrived when he joined local outfit 'Big In The North East'. This was a 9-piece band with a 4-piece brass section. This was a northern soul collective and again this gave Carl the opportunity to play to a crowd of 6000 and continue to tour around the UK.

He then started to get involved with the local dance clubs just as the house music scene started to explode and he made his debut at the purple onion in 1998 and is still to this day playing there at various nights.
